Dr. Levke Caesar

Caesar

Levke Caesar recently finished her PhD in Climate Physics at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany. Her research topic was the evolution of the Atlantic Overturning Circulation and its impact on the Earth System. Part of her findings that showed that this major ocean circulation system has slowed down by about 15 percent since the mid-20th Century were published in Nature in 2018. Prior to her PhD,  Ms Caesar studied Climate Physics at the University of Potsdam and the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel. In summer 2012, she spend two months on the research ship Polarstern, surveying the Atlantic Ocean between Greenland and Svalbard. In October 2019 Ms Caesar has joined the Irish Climate Analysis and Research UnitS at Maynooth University. There she works within the A4 project and studies how changes in the Atlantic region, in particular regarding the ocean circulations, will affect Ireland.
