In previous research, Savia has explored the relationship between demography, livelihood resources and mobility patterns. Through her studies, she gained insights into how individuals and communities adapt to strategies in response to changing circumstances.

During her stay at PIK, Savia will collaborate with B-EPICC’s scientist Dr Alec Thornton who is researching adaptive capacity building within the context of climate change. Savia’s goal is to contribute her understanding on the relationship between environmental change and migration movements in the South of Minas Gerais in Brazil. This collaboration will allow them to further understand livelihood strategies, climate change and mobility patterns from a qualitative perspective. In particular, it will help to bridge gaps in understanding multifaceted challenges holistically, as well as considering the intricate human dimension of the issue.
