Irrigated agriculture, as a vital part of total agriculture (practise of cultivating land and raising crops, breeding, feeding and farming), mainly sets itself apart from rainfed agriculture due to the fact of its water source. Food production consumes a lot of water and approximately one third of our water is used to produce plants. Thereby, there is an increasing demand for irrigation in agricultural production. Temperature rise may induce water stock reduction and meteorological and hydrological droughts, which directly impact water supply. This decrease in water supply may lead to loss of yield through water shortage and, therefore, to irrigated agricultural production loss.
