Landscape: The catchment is situated in the North German lowlands (70%) and in the in the German / Czech mountain region (approx. 30%)
Major tributaries: Vltava/Moldau (28.090 kmē), Saale (24.079 kmē), Havel (23.860 kmē), Mulde (7.400 kmē), Schwarze Elster (5.705 kmē), Eger/Ohre (5.614km²) *
