Effects of climate change on crop yields are likely to vary from region to region across the globe. Changes in climate may affect food loss through changes in temperature, precipitation, soil moisture and soil fertility, length of growing season and increasing probability of extreme climatic conditions. A loss of nutritional production, therefore, can raise number of people at risk of hunger. Arid and semi-arid regions are likely to suffer even more from reduced rainfall and increased evaporation that can lead to increasing desertification and degradation, which in turn can induce nutritional loss.
