synergies to mitigation: In the 2 first phases, the project has been working particularly on the CDM (capacity building, development of CDM projects and promotion of CDM projects). The 3rd phase is focusing on mitigation in general with a focus on development of NAMA in different sectors (Agriculture, forests, cement sector, etc) and capacity building of the concerned partners on the topic.
no regret / win-win option: No regret and Win-Win option are part of set of innovative adaptation options to climate change identified and proposed in the framework of the project in the different sectors concerned.
project evaluation: The project contributed to:
- Raise awareness of politics and decision makers on the challenges of climate change on the most vulnerable sectors in Tunisia
- Support the elaboration of 3 sectoral adaptation to CC strategies (agriculture including water resources and ecosystems, tourism, health),
- Support the elaboration of a National Strategy on Climate Change involving all concerned sectors (in phase of political validation)
- Carry out many vulnerability assessments of ecosystems and agro-systems to climate change
- Mainstreaming ACC into regional, local and project levels planning (Climate Proofing)
- Integrating CCA into local development plans. Adaptation of the methodology of elaboration of community development and adaptation plans at the local level.
- Setting up a CC adaptation M&E system at the national level leaded by OTEDD. The objective is to start working on the identification of ACC indicators in the agriculture sector as a pilot example built on the existing M&E system regarding this sector
- Capacity building of different target groups in the field of CC and ACC (Decision makers, technical institutions staff, NGOs, Universities, Research institutes etc.
• Develop and update a National Portfolio on adaptation to CC projects
• Elaborate a guide for Vulnerability assessment of ecosystems to CC
• Elaborate a guide for Economic Evaluation of Ecosystem goods and services
• Elaboration of a data catalogue system for Climate services and informations
