Süddeutsche Zeitung publishes guest article by Hermann Lotze-Campen

01/03/2017 - The 'Süddeutsche Zeitung' published a guest article 'Lob des Freihandels' by Professor Hermann Lotze-Campen on the benefits of free trade for climate change adaptation and world-wide food security.

In this guest article (only in German); Hermann Lotze-Campen emphasizes the positive impact of more liberal trade policy on improving food security and minimizing the costs of climate change impacts. Especially poor
people in developing countries have a lot to lose from restricted international trade in agricultural commodities.

He suggests that Germany, which has recently taken over the G20 presidency, should use the opportunity to better integrate environmental, agricultural and trade policies in the future.
