Meet and Read: Climate Change from different Perspectives

Reading and discussion. The author, blogger, literary critic and journalist Daniel Peña, awarded with the Pushcart Prize, is currently teaching at the University of Leipzig as Picador Guest Professor for Literature. His novel BANG, published by Arte Publico Press this autumn, describes the backgrounds and consequences of the Mexican drug war and the connection with the American immigration policy. Just before the release of this novel, the hurricane ‘Harvey’ hit his hometown Houston, Texas. For Peña, this was reason to write an article on Ploughshares Blog about the connection of climate change and social justice. Together with the climatologist Dr. Jacob Schewe from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the professor for American studies, Crister Garrett, Daniel Peña wants to discuss the climate change from different perspectives. The participation is free of charge, registration is requested. The event will be held in English language.
