Change of Course 1.5 Degrees - The Limits of Growth in Solving the Climate Crisis

At the beginning of October, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is to adopt a special report on the 1.5-degree limit for maximum global warming. Effective solutions to the climate crisis are more urgent than ever. The prevailing growth paradigm must be challenged and the transformation towards a climate-friendly global community that acts within planetary boundaries must be initiated. What measures can we take to reduce global energy and resource consumption? What changes do we need in our current way of economy and life? And how can these steps also contribute to solving other socio-ecological crises? These questions and possible answers will be discussed by the panel of the evening after having listened to a keynote speech by the designated director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Johan Rockström. Admission to the event is free, a registration is required. The discussion will be held in English and German language with simultaneous translation. A live stream of the event will be provided under the following link: https://www.boell.de/de/livestream
