Can global warming still be mitigated? Lecture and Discussion on the Monte Verità

Climate conferences, hurricanes, doomsday scenarios or the romantic search for a better life - nature is a frequently arising focus of today's discourse. It appears in a variety of contexts: environmental protection, species and animal protection, ecological movements, nature as a threat, nature as a power of destruction, nature as a shelter. All of these terms make clear how diverse "nature" is in our common understanding. Within the event series "The utopia of nature" of the "Eventi Letterari Monte Verità", authors, scientists and philosophers approach the different meanings of "nature" and report in lectures and discussions about their research, expeditions and findings. In this context, PIK-Director John Schellnhuber presents his literary work "Selbstverbrennung" and concisely summarizes the current knowledge behind the "fight for every tenth of a degree". The event will be held in German language and will be simultaneously translated into Italian and French language. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the event page and on-site at the event.
