Sustainability Network SDSN discusses global responsibility and the upcoming legislative term

10/16/2017 - Leading experts for sustainable development from Germany will gather at the meeting of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Germany in Berlin to discuss the implementation of sustainable development targets (SDGs) with participants from industry, politics, and civil society. The meeting on October 26th focuses on the international responsibility of Germany, particularly in regard to the newly elected Bundestag.

In the autumn of a year which is characterised not only by elections for the Bundestag but also by the UN Climate Conference in Bonn, the sustainability network SDSN is addressing global responsibility and sustainability in the new legislative term. Hermann Lotze-Campen from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research will present the international project "The World in 2050 (TWI2050)" and will discuss about global responsibility and the implementation of the SDGs with Guido Schmidt-Traub, Executive Director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and with Imme Scholz, member of German Council for Sustainable Development and Director of the German Development Institute. Furthermore, the chairmen of SDSN Germany, Dirk Messner and Gesine Schwan, will debate with representatives of the newly elected Bundestag how the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is to be implemented in the new legislative term.

SDSN Germany unites knowledge, experience and capacities of German scientific, economic, and civil society organisations to promote the commitment to a sustainable development worldwide. The network consist of more than 30 leading research institutes, interest groups, and foundations working together as members and partners. PIK is a member of SDSN Germany represented by Hermann Lotze-Campen.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 26th  2017, 12.30-17:00 at the House of the Evangelical Church Germany, Charlottenstraße 53-54, 10117 Berlin.
