“On our way to gender equality we made important progress, so we are delighted to receive this award again,” says the equal opportunities officer of PIK, Christine Bounama. “The title is motivation as well as incentive for our future commitment.” Total E-Quality means Total Quality Management (TOM) complemented by the gender aspect (equality) of equal opportunities for women and men. The title marks out proactive organizations that implement equity by self-commitment and transparency. Next to the compatibility of work and family life and personnel recruiting, the objective thereby is to promote fair behaviour at work and the consideration of equal opportunities in the company’s principles.

“The managements of our award winners have recognized that gender equality anchored in the organization leads to more success. Without any legal requirements, they represent themselves as trendsetting examples,” said Eva Maria Roer, chairwoman of Total E-Quality Gemany e. V., at the award ceremony. PIK was rewarded with this prize for the second time already. As part of the gender equality concept, for one the institute pursued “new ways in promoting young scientists and appeal procedures” to improve the opportunities of female scientists for leading positions, states the jury. The increasing number of women and men that make use of their entitlement of parental leave moreover expressed the family-friendliness of the institute.
