Society of Friends and Promoters of PIK honours Young Scientists

For the first time ever the Society of Friends and Promoters of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) e. V. has awarded a prize for the best dissertation of the year 2004 at PIK.

The prize was shared between Dr. Kirsten Thonicke and Dr. Kirsten Zickfeld. Both scientists wrote their Ph.D. theses at the Faculty of Mathematics and Science of Potsdam University. Kirsten Thonicke analysed vegetation dynamics and fire disturbance. Kirsten Zickfeld investigated abrupt climate change and its relevance for policy action.
