Amsalu Woldie Yalew is an economist with research focus on the nexus between environment and economic development. At PIK, he works on assessing economic risks imposed by climate change on different sectors, especially, on agriculture, water, energy, and human health in tropical countries. Dr. Yalew serves as referee for several journals including Technological Forecasting & Social Change; Environment, Development and Sustainability; Climate & Development; and Climatic Change

Amsalu W. Yalew holds PhD in Economics (TU Dresden, 2017, Germany), MSc in Economics (TERI University, 2011, India), and BA in Economics (Haramaya University, 2008, Ethiopia). He has been in academia for about a decade. His professional experience spans between teaching and research. His research interest is environment and development economics with geographic focus on developing countries.
