Kais Siala

Kais studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Technical University of Munich (TUM), with a focus on Power Engineering. He obtained his M. Sc. degree in 2015 after submitting his thesis “Determination of the Power Generation Potential of Solar PV and Wind in South East Asia”, which he wrote while working at TUMCREATE in Singapore.
From 2015 to 2020, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems at TUM. Meanwhile, he did two research stays abroad, one at Stanford University (California, USA) and one at TUMCREATE (Singapore). He submitted his doctoral thesis in 2020 with the title "Spatial complexity in Energy System Modeling". He joined PIK in August 2020.
Kais' research interests are the life-cycle assessment of sustainable solutions, modeling and optimization of energy systems, complex socio-economic systems, and decarbonization pathways for developing countries.
