Curriculum vitae Petra Lasch-Born

After studying mathematics at the Humboldt-University of Berlin Petra Lasch-Born worked at the Central Institute for Cybernetics and Information Processes of the East German Academy of Sciences (ZKI), Berlin, in the department of Systems Analysis and Modelling. She developed a model-based prognosis and decision support tool for environmental protection (PEMU) which includes a statistical forest model.

From 1990 until 1991 she worked at the Institute for Ecosystem Research of the East German Academy of Sciences (IfÖ), Berlin in the field of forest ecosystem modelling.

Since 1992 Petra Lasch-Born works at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). She is studying the impacts of global change on forests on the regional scale in the Research Domain II “Climate Impacts and Vulnerabilities”. Part of her work is mathematical modelling of forest ecosystems with the forest dynamics model 4C and the application of forest models for regional impact studies in Germany (Brandenburg, Baden-Württemberg) and in the frame work of European studies (SilviStrat, TAFF) and national studies (“Deutsche Waldstudie”, OakChain). Since April 2008 she is speaker of the PIK project “Climate Impact Register for Germany”
