Ioanna Mouratiadou is a senior researcher at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development of Utrecht University and a guest researcher at PIK. She holds a PhD in Resource and Agricultural Economics (University of Edinburgh), an MSc in Ecological Economics (University of Edinburgh), and a BSc in Economics (University of Piraeus). She is currently working on the assessment of sustainable intensification options of integrated agricultural production of food and energy products (SUSTAg project). At PIK she has been working on the assessment of climate change mitigation scenarios and the interplay between energy, land use and water resource systems (ADVANCE, SSP, RoSE, ISIMIP Energy projects). Her research, prior to joining PIK, at the Institut Agronomique Mediterraneen de Montpellier, focused on the analysis of climate change impacts and adaptation measures in agricultural systems of Western Africa and the assessment of agricultural and nitrate pollution control policies (BECRA and SEAMLESS projects).

  • Assessment of climate change mitigation pathways
  • Regional implications of climate change stabilization
  • Bio-economic land use modelling
  • Climate change impacts on the energy sector
