M.Sc. Tobias Herzfeld

Doctoral Researcher

I am a Doctoral Researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in the working group land-use and resilience within the land-use group. I am enrolled at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) and a member of the graduate school of Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys). I hold a Master degree in Physical Geography of Human-Environment-Systems from HU Berlin.

My research focuses on studying climate mitigation in agricultural production through sustainable resource management, with emphasis on the effects of management practices on global soil degradation. To answer my research questions, I develop and use the process-based biophysical vegetation and agricultural model LPJmL.
