studies in meteorology at Humboldt University Berlin, graduated (grade:"exellent")

1973-1978
scientist in the research department of the Meteorological Service of the GDR. Assistance in the development of numerical weather forecast models.

1978-1986
expert scientist in the department "Basis and Information" of the Central Office for Climatology. Main fields: Development and application of statistical procedures, investigation of regional-climatic phenomenons, advisory activity for administration and economy.

1984
doctorate - Dr. rer. nat., Theme: "The application of the Welch-analysis to non-normally distributed measurements".

1986-1990
expert scientist in the climate research department of the Meteorological Observatory Potsdam. Focus of work: Climate analysis and diagnosis on a regional scale.

1990-1992
expert scientist in the research department of German Weather Service without changing the field.

As of April 1st, 1992
scientist and deputy head in the climate research department of the Potsdam-Institute for Climate Impact Research. Present field: problem solutions as to the questions of climate impact on a global and regional scale.
