Dr Christian Gambardella

Postdoctoral Researcher

I conduct research at the intersection of applied microeconomics and energy and environmental economics.

I focus on electricity markets where I mostly study consumer behavior. Combining econometric and numerical methods I investigate topics such as the welfare effects of retail pricing design, the influence of behavioral biases in consumer decision making and the welfare implications of correcting them. I also analyze the interaction of carbon pricing and renewable generation on fossil-fueled electricity generation and the economic impacts from local air pollution.

I am a PostDoc in the Climate And Energy Policy Group (CAEP). My work is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) via the project BeSmart where I work in close collaboration with colleagues from the University of Kassel.
