Research

At PIK, I am working together with Dr. Kirsten Thonicke and Dr. Boris Sakschewski on improving the representation of functional biodiversity in forest communities, e.g. in the Amazon basin, based on a trait-based definition of functional biodiversity. Our modelling team works with LPJmL-FIT (Lund-Potsdam-Jena model with managed land and flexible individual traits), a version of the well-established global dynamic vegetation model (DGVM) LPJ.

At the University of Potsdam, I am working together with Professor Ursula Gaedke and her working group in the DFG Priority Program DynaTrait on modelling adaptive food webs with a focus on biodiverse plankton systems.
