Andreas Beneking

Andreas Beneking is working at the Super Smart Grid research group of the Potsdam Institute of Climate Impact Research (PIK). His research focuses on the transformation of the energy system from a social science perspective. In the FP7-funded project "Improved and eNhanced Stakeholders Participation In Reinforcement of Electricity Grid (INSPIRE-Grid)" he currently studies questions related to the public acceptance of energy infrastructures. Within the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) research project “Bringing Europe and Third countries closer together through renewable Energies (BETTER)” he was involved in the North African case study exploring and assessing the opportunities and barriers to the implementation of article 9 of the EU RE Directive. He studied political science and geography at the universities of Aachen, FU Berlin and Potsdam. Before joining PIK he worked as a science journalist for the international renewable energy magazine Photon.
