Pilz

Tobias Pilz is a researcher at PIK since 2019. He studied geoecology at the University of Potsdam and holds a PhD in hydrology. Tobias is interested in hydrological model development and application with a special attitude towards open source software. His programming skills range from Fortran and C++ to Shell and Python with a strong focus on the scripting language R. Apart from hydrological processes Tobias has a solid knowledge of statistics, time series analysis, and climate change and related impacts with special focus on the terrestrial water cycle and hydrological extremes such as floods and droughts. His mission is to improve the understanding of hydrological processes and reduce the uncertainties associated with hydrological model simulations in order to reduce the vulnerability of cities and communities against floods and droughts and improve their resilience in the light of advancing climate change.
