EIT Climate-KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Community) is Europe's leading climate innovation initiative, working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), it identifies and supports innovation that helps society mitigate and adapt to climate change. PIK is a Core Partner and founding member of the organisation.

To achieve its goals, Climate-KIC brings together partners from business, academia, and the public and non-profit sectors to co-develop innovative products, services and systems, in view of commericialisation and scaling for impact.

Climate-KIC runs a range of education programmes across Europe and online, for students, postgraduates and professionals. In this way it develops their skills and capacities, empowers them with up-to-date knowledge and best practice and fosters a new generation of entrepreneurs and climate leaders to realise a zero-carbon economy.

In addition, Climate-KIC supports start-ups and entrepreneurs through initiatives like the 24-hour Climathon, a European Accelerator programme and ClimateLaunchpad, the world's largest green business idea competition.

PIK is supporting and actively taking part in Climate-KIC activities and at the same time boosts the transfer of its own research results through a series of Climate-KIC-funded projects.
