INNOVATION PILLAR AWARD: DESMA- Demand supply mapping for adaptation of local actors Local actors should play a key role in tackling Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), yet CCA still lacks behind in terms of implementation in European municipalities. An efficient uptake of available scientific information is hampered by the sheer complexity of the field, and the increasing amount of digital information services and tools developed in this context has not remedied the situation.

We propose a novel demand-driven and self-sustaining service that addresses CCA related capacity building of municipal actors together with guidance and support in taking advantage of available information services and tools. The service will join the benefits of face-to-face communication and of digital communication by providing a tailored combination of professional educational modules and complementary digital services for autonomous information access. It is assumed that such a service can contribute to an accelerated uptake of CCA on municipal level. Against the challenging conditions of the market to be addressed, conducting a careful, open and non-biased analysis of the market opportunities is crucial, which is the aim of this pathfinder.
