Regional Integrated Vulnerability Assessment for Austria

The project responds to both the explicit call for improved vulnerability studies on the sub-national and regional level and to an urgent need for knowledge on regional vulnerabilities in Austria. The project will pursue three closely interlinked main lines of activities: (i) the preparation of a transferable conceptual, methodological and procedural framework for regional vulnerability assessment, (ii) the application of the participatory vulnerability assessment concept in an Austrian pilot region (Pinzgau-Pongau); and (iii) the evaluation of test results and stakeholder process performance.

The project aims to develop, test and provide a transferable conceptive, methodical and process-oriented model for regional assessments of vulnerabilities towards climate change.

PIK will contribute to WP 1 "Project Management", WP 2 "Concept of regional vulnerability assessment: project review & process design", WP 3 "Stakeholder dialogue & evaluation", WP 4 "Vulnerability indicators & assessment framework", WP 6 "Synthesis, re-design & preparation for further applications"
