Is it still possible to manage the impacts of climate change?

Under the title "Challenge Infrastructure – Strategies and Measures for the Adaptation to the Impacts of Climate Change" there will take place the 5th regional conference of the North German federal states in Schwerin on 26 September. On board: the renowned climate scientist Stefan Rahmstorf from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Before he will discuss on the stage with representatives of the ministries of the environment of the participating federal states, he is going to deliver the keynote speech of the conference: "The warmest April and May in North Germany since weather records began, the rising sea-levels and weakening gulf stream system, the so far unending series of weather extremes – how do the most actual available data on global warming look like? Do tipping points of the climate system already have been crossed? Is there a connection between climate change and causes of migration?" The event will be held in German language and the participation is free of charge. Registration is required before 19 September.
