Climate Action Day: Climate Change 4.0

Lecture by PIK-director John Schellnhuber, with following discussion. June 3rd is Climate Action Day at the new future lab Futurium. A variety of events invites people of all ages to participate. The scientific keynote lecture will be held by PIK-director John Schellnhuber: "In the anthropocene, humanity has become a planetary force, that is even capable to suppress natural ice ages. While the aftermath of the industrial revolution threatens to destroy our livelihoods and our civilization, the digital revolution at least generates opportunities for the mastery of the climate crisis through its rapid technological progress. Smart grids, energy sources and storages, highly efficient circulary production processes, resource-conserving land-use, virtual interaction formats etc. can help initiating the turnaround towards sustainability to perform the Great Transformation." In the following, the renowned climate scientist discusses with Stephan Brandt, director of the Futurium, about the topic. The event will be held in German language without translation. The entrance is free, no registration necessary.
