16th Munich Science Days

This year's Munich Science Days will focus on the topic "Water - Our Life's Resource" and give insight into this current and multi-faceted issue from very different points of view. More than 300 experts will show the visitors how important, but also how endangered the scarce resource of water is and bring them closer to this basic life element through information stands, lectures and workshops. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, head of the PIK, will welcome the visitors at the opening night with his lecture "Fire, Water, Air and Earth: How Mankind Disrupts the Global Dance of the Elements".

This year's event will focus on a diversity of important water issues, such as for instance the question of who actually owns the water, ecological and social consequences of water shortage as well as floods and global sea level rise. Furthermore the pollution of the seas and threats to our groundwater will be discussed and historical topics such as water management in ancient Egypt, the importance of water in 19th century art, and the symbolism of water in music will be presented.
The Munich Scientific Days therefore are an excellent opportunity for interactive learning and for direct exchange with representatives of universities and research institutes.

Admission is free, the event will be held in German language.
