Ottmar Edenhofer will be joined by engineer, university professor and manager António Costa Silva, who developed the post-pandemic economic development plan on behalf of the Portuguese government, and sociologist Luísa Schmidt, a pioneer of environmental sociology in Portugal. The moderator will be Luísa Meireles, director of the news agency LUSA.

The event is part of the debate series "Quo vadis, Europe?", which addresses Europe's current social, political, economic and cultural challenges. Intellectual leaders, politicians and researchers from Portugal and German-speaking countries will discuss emerging European issues with the aim of promoting mutual understanding and developing common policy options for the future. Initiators and sponsors of "Quo vadis, Europe?" are the Goethe-Institut Portugal, the German-Portuguese Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the St. Bartholomew Association of Germans in Lisbon.
