Denominational organisations
Usually, a respective religious denomination membership is mandatory. Funding is offered by various foundations e.g., Protestant (e.g. Villigst), Catholic (e.g. Cusanuswerk), Jewish (e.g. ELES), Muslim (e.g. Avicenna)

Organisations with special foci
e.g. funding may be awarded based on a student's social, family-related and personal circumstances, e.g., Christiane Nüsslein Volhard Stiftung, or e.g., regional focus  Gemeinschaft für studentischen Austausch in Mittel- und Osteuropa (GFPS)
