Senior Postdoc position: Integrated energy-land-economy-climate modeling

The climate needs bright minds. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) addresses crucial scientific questions in the fields of global change, climate impacts and sustainable development. It is one of the world's leading research institutions in its field and offers natural and social scientists from around the world an inspiring environment for excellent interdisciplinary research.

PIK’s Research Department 3 – Transformation pathways – combines expertise on economic and integrated assessment modeling with state-of-the art biophysical impact modeling. It operates the internationally recognized models REMIND (energy-economy) and MAgPIE (land use) and hosts the Inter-sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project ISIMIP. This provides you with a unique environment to push the integrated assessment modeling of climate impacts, energy and land use, and sustainable development  to a new frontier. Avenues for direct stakeholder engagement and high-level policy advise give the opportunity to use your research to make a difference.

PIK is offering a position for advancing the Potsdam Integrated Assessment Modeling Framework (PIAM), which currently consists of the coupled REMIND-MAgPIE models interfacing the vegetation model LPJml and the climate model MAGICC. The position starts in early 2021.
