The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) addresses crucial scientific questions in the fields of global change, climate impacts and sustainable development. Within the BMBF-funded Kopernikus project ARIADNE, the “Climate and Energy Policy” Group in Research Domain 3 is looking for a

Post Doctoral Researcher -  EU climate policies, in particular the EU-ETS, and other policies to decarbonize transport / industry  (m/f/d)

 (Position number: 16-2021-Postdoc Position)

in the field of climate and energy economics, starting on 01.06.2021 earliest.

The position is funded for 24 months. Remuneration is in accordance with the German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 13. All position are full-time with a weekly working time of 40 hours.

Key responsibilities:

  • conduct research that is both policy-relevant and has high academic quality on one or more of the above topics
  • coordinate related project activities
  • disseminate project findings in formats suitable for decision makers (e.g. policy brief) and the broader public (e.g. blog posts)

Requirements:

  • PhD in economics or another social science with a quantitative orientation
  • profound knowledge of quantitative empirical/numerical/theoretical methods and excellent analytical skills; knowledge of optimization software (GAMS or similar) is an asset
  • academic record that underlines to publish in top-ranked journals in the field of energy and climate economics and policy as well as related interdisciplinary journals

  • a high level of proficiency in oral and written English; a basic knowledge of German, or the willingness to acquire it
  • readiness to take over group responsibilities
  • entrepreneurial spirit and organisational talent
  • willingness to travel for work (project meetings, workshops etc.)
