For the Director's Executive Staff  PIK is offering a position as

Advisor/Research Analyst (f/m/d)

(Position number: 09-2021-Advisor/Research Analyst)

starting as soon as possible.

The position is funded until 31.12.2022. Remuneration is in accordance with German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 13. This is a part-time position with a weekly working time of 22 hours per week. An increase to 30 hours per week is welcomed for the period May 2021 to July 2022.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the scientific work of the Scientific Directors Johan Rockström and Ottmar Edenhofer with a special focus on govering global commons within planetary boundaries
  • Support analytical work in international research collaborations, including (but not limited to) the Global Commons Alliance, the Earth Commission and the Food system economics Commission
  • Prepare and on occasion co-author talks, essays and publications for the Directors, including content coordination with event organizers
  • Prepare scientific research results for talks and presentations
  • Be an active member of the research analyst team supporting the Directors, being prepared to take on additional analyst tasks as they arise.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field in natural or social sciences
  • Advanced knowledge of climate science and climate impacts research
  • Demonstrated experience in the drafting of publications (scientific or popular)
  • Analytical interest in and understanding of political and scientific debates
  • Competence in administrative tasks
  • Knowledge of the functioning of academic institutions
  • Very good MS Office skills, especially Powerpoint
  • Fluency in German and English
