Biosketch

Sybille van den Hove is Visiting Professor at the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Director of MEDIAN, a small research consultancy. She has a PhD in Ecological Economics, and a B.A. in Physics. She specialises in sustainable development governance, science/policy interfaces, participatory approaches to environmental decision-making, integration of natural and social sciences research, and corporate environmental responsibility. Her work mainly focuses on biodiversity and climate change policies at international and EU levels. She has also worked on issues such as: radioactive waste management policies, the EU chemical and pesticides policies, sustainability strategies of corporations, and institutionalisation of corporate social responsibility. Sybille is chairing the Steering Committee of Hermes (Hotspot Ecosystem Research on the Margins of European Seas). She is also the vice chair of the steering committee of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS).
