Student Research Assistant - Project START

The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) addresses crucial scientific questions in the fields of global change, climate impacts and sustainable development. We are looking for a

student research assistant (m/f/d)

to support our energy research, communication, project management,
and the preparation of an international energy conference

(Position number: student research assistant-16-2019)

The applicant should be interested to work 40-80 hours a month starting soon. The position is initially limited until 30.09.2019, an extension is planned.

The position is funded until end of September 2019. The hourly wage is with a Bachelor´s degree 11,49 Euro and with a Master´s degree 15,63 Euro.

The position is focused on the energy transition in Germany, EU and Australia. You work in the START project of the Australia-Germany Energy Transition Hub (, which is a bilateral initiative for research on energy transition opportunities supported by the Australian and German governments. It finds technological and policy solutions that foster a transition to zero-carbon energy systems while building on close links with policy, industry and society.

Key responsibilities:

  • drafting website texts, tweets, presentations and press releases
  • supporting the organization of an international energy conference
  • joining weekly management meetings
  • helping coordinating research
  • online energy transition research


  • advanced bachelor or master student
  • very good English communication and organizational skills
  • independence and creativity
  • very good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • interest in energy systems and their future transformation
