Full Professorship (W 3) for Integrated Assessment of Climate Change

The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam hereby announces a joint professorship under the Jülich Model with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) to be filled as soon as possible.

Full Professorship (W 3) for Integrated Assessment of Climate Change

The position is joined with that of head of the research department “Transformation Pathways” at PIK. The professorship will be located within the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Potsdam.

The new professor is expected to conduct innovative research in the field of Integrated Assessment of Climate Change and Sustainability Strategies. Particular research foci of the new joint professorship will be: (1) Integrated Assessment Modelling of Climate Change Mitigation Pathways; (2) Integrated Analysis of Climate Change Impacts, Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Development; (3) Economics of Climate Change and Sustainable Development Pathways; and (4) Application of Scenario Analysis and Decision Theory to the Integrated Assessment of Climate Change.

We are looking for a candidate of proven outstanding national and international reputation, not only with respect to his/her scientific excellence but also excellent leadership competencies with proven experience in leading research groups and research projects.

A precondition for the appointment is an interdisciplinary research biography, leadership experience, success in acquiring third-party funding, didactic excellence and willingness to actively participate in developing degree programs at the University of Potsdam.

The joint professorship is being filled under the Jülich Model, with a teaching obligation of at least 2 hours per week at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Potsdam.

The following application requirements for professors must be documented in accordance with Section 41 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG): a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, and a particular ability for scientific and scholarly work, typically documented by a dissertation project; comprehensive competences in science management and additional scholarly achievements as evidenced by a Habilitation (post-doctoral dissertation), a junior professorship or work as a research associate at an institution of higher education or an extramural research institution, or scholarly activity in the private sector, or in a similar social field, whether in Germany or abroad. The appointment procedure is conducted in accordance with Section 40 BbgHG.
