The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is looking for a research assistant for the HGF-Allianz Project (’Remote Sensing und Earth System Dynamics’)

The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) addresses questions in the fields of energy system transformation, climate impacts, and sustainable development. Natural and social scientists work together to generate interdisciplinary insights that provide a sound basis for decision-making in society and policy. PIK’s historic science campus on Telegrafenberg Potsdam is in short commuting distance from Berlin. PIK seeks to increase the number of women in scientific positions.

The HGF Alliance "Remote Sensing and Earth System Dynamics" aims at the development and evaluation of novel bio/geo-physical information products derived from data acquired by a new generation of remote sensing satellites; and their integration in Earth system models for improving understanding and modelling ability of global environmental processes and ecosystem change.

For the month of December 2017 only, we are looking for a research assistant who will help to design and update project websites for the flagship ECOSTAB of Research Domain I.

In order to disseminate obtained results in HGF we are looking for a research assistant who will update present project websites of the flagship ECOSTAB. Synergies between HGF and other projects, with focus on biosphere dynamics, will be highlighted.

Tasks:

  • Creating and updating project websites
  • Conducting literature research

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Web-Content-Management-System Plone plus Html
  • Good command of English
  • Ability to relay essential outcome to scientific and non-scientific public

The applicant should be willing to commit her/himself to work 80 hours for December.
