Siegfried Franck studied physics at the University of Leipzig and got his PhD in 1978. In 1984 he qualified as a university lecturer at the Central Institute for Physics of the Earth in Potsdam and in 1989 he was appointed as a professor in geophysics. Since 1997 he works at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in the field of Earth system analysis and planetology/astrobiology. In 2004 he got a professorship for co-evolution of geo- and biosphere at the Potsdam University. He passed away on May 16th, 2011.

Dr. Werner von Bloh

born in 1963


Werner von Bloh studied physics at the University of Oldenburg. He got his PhD 1999 at the University of Potsdam on geophysiological modelling of the interaction between climate and biosphere. Since 1993 he works at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in the field of modelling for the co-evolution of geosphere and biosphere and for habitability studies.

Dr. Christine Bounama

born in 1964


Christine Bounama studied geophysics at the Technical University Mountain Academy Freiberg. In 2008 she got her PhD in astrophysics at the Potsdam University. Since 1997 she works at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in the field of the long-term Earth system analysis and the evolution of terrestrial planets.
