EPN Phenology Network Metadatabase

General information

Network name: European Aeroallergen Network
Network acronym: EAN
Network Internet web site address:www.univie.ac.at/ean
Main sources of network funding: no funding
Membership to other environmental monitoring networks:
Data Release Policy for Research: open to specified user group
Data usage by the monitoring network or externally for: Research (including model development)
Agri-, horti-, viniculture, orcharding, forestry (e.g. yield prediction / statistics)
Ecology
Human health
Climatic evaluations
Potential impacts of climate change / global change
Major external data users: Commercial / industry

Comment:
Standards: Volumetric sampling (Hirst type traps). Expression of daily mean pollen per cubic metre of air. Data storage is volunteerly, there is no binding agreement for delivery. Interruption of monitoring in a number of sites repeatedly for several years for personal/technical/financial reasons. Continuity of data records differs a lot depending on local data providers. For some stations, only historical data is available. Big differences in number of reported taxa. Some differences in taxonomy (reporting of genera/families). Many new sites have been established during the 1990ies.
