ACCMA's Vision
|
|
Climate Change will impose additional threats on
the coastal areas of the North Morrocan provinces of Berkane and Nador.
Already now supply and demand of water has approached critical limits.
The parallel expansion of touristic and agricultural infrastructure
will additionally threatened by future anticipated sea livel
rise. ACCMA
will strengthen local capacities to get involved in adequate
environmental decision making in the coastal zones of Berkane and
Nador. In particular the goals are:
- People know how their environment is going to
change and how to adapt,
- Research have established social, economic, and
environmental safe limits and these are respected by decision makers in
their pursuit of sustainable development,
- Governments, research institutions, and civil
society organisations are engaged in learning networks from other
regions to exchange experience concerning climate change and adaptation
measures,
- Institutions (key stakeholders in Morocco) are
actively engaged in collaborative integrated strategic coastal planning
- including climate change mitigation and adaptation - supported by an
adequate legal and institutional framework for implementation and
enforcement.
