Sea level changes

    Sea level change
    Linear response functions
    • Linear response functions can be used to project sea level contributions from ocean warming and ice discharge from Greenland and Antarctica into the future.
    • We propose a functional form R(t) = Γ⋅tα with positive α for Antarctic ice discharge from surface warming and negative α for other contributions (Winkelmann & Levermann, 2012).
    • Using response functions derived from the SeaRISE intercomparison the sea-level contribution from Antarctic basal ice-shelf melting was projected up to 2100 (Figure & Levermann et al. 2012)
