NEXT: Next Generation Earth System Models

Aim: The goal of NEXT is the development of the next generation Earth System Model. In particular, this involves development of the intermediate-complexity Earth-system model CLIMBER to its version 3. We also maintain and develop the dynamic land biosphere model LPJmL (in cooperation with Research Domain 2), and we will integrate it into CLIMBER3.

Projects:

• We are part of GREENCYCLES-II, a Marie Curie Initial Training Network to advance the understanding of the impacts of climate-biosphere feedbacks on the evolution of the Earth system over the coming decades
