Summary:
This project quantifies the global potential for sustainable bioenergy production in scenario-based analyses, and identifies trade-offs between uses of land and water for different purposes (food production vs. bioenergy production vs. nature protection). Alternative pathways to agricultural industrialisation, under consideration of non-economic land and water use choices, and their effects on biogeochemical fluxes are explored. Work is based primarily on the LPJmL model, which will be accordingly enhanced.
