History of QUEST
MegaRun represents the continuation of previous researches aiming on the understanding of past climate changes performed at PIK since 1998. This activity became a part of official PIK projects first in the framework of QUEST (Quaternary Earth system STability), and then, since 2004, in two parallel projects ICE-QUEST and C-QUEST. The former was primarily concerned with the modeling of the Northern Hemisphere Ice sheets, whilst the latter addressed the mechanisms of the past CO2 variations. The new project, MegaRun, combines these two activities and is aimed to solve key problems formulated in the QUEST projects.
