Summary:

Our perception of climate change is shaped by the individual regional experience of this change. The alternatives for adjusting to and mitigating of climate change vary between regions. They depend on environmental as well as social conditions. In research field 3, we develop models to project regional climate change and explore its consequences for agriculture and forestry, the water household, human health and regional economic activities in different regions of the world. The climate projections and its impacts are summarized in climate impact registers. The climate impact register for Germany is the basis for our policy advice to support the current German strategy for climate impact and mitigation.

Lead question:
What are the quantitative impacts of climate change on Germany (and later selected other world regions)?

What are the consequences for affected sectors and what strategic scientific advice can be given to policy makers?
