At the end of september 2011, I have left my positions as co-chair for the research domain Earth System Analysis at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and also as Professor of Global Ecology at the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Potsdam University.

I am now Research Director at the Institut Méditerranéen d'Ecologie et de Paléoécologie (Mediterranean Institute for Ecology and Paleoecology, IMEP), Aix-en-Provence, France - which in 2012 will become the Institut Méditerranéen de la Biodiversité et d'Ecologie continentale et marine (Mediterranean Institute for Biodiversity and Ecology, IMBE).
