The climate is heating up further and further: 2005 and 2010 are the warmest years on record. Over the last two decades, sea levels rose more than 3 centimetres per decade. The last decade brought with it an unprecedented number of weather extremes such as the heat wave in Russia and the flood in Pakistan. The lecture discusses the state of the earth climate using newest data and findings of climate research and analyzes how society deals with those findings - from denial to constructive solutions.
