Brooke Wilkerson is a research assistant at the University of Bergen (Norway). Her current project involves system dynamics modeling of carbon cycling in forests and communities in Nepal. Previous projects at the University of Bergen include researching bats as providers of ecosystem services to farmers in western Uganda and modeling potential forest change in Norway using GIS. Before moving to Norway, Brooke was the public lands ecologist for the state of Maine (USA), conducting natural resource inventories and rare plant surveys, developing land management plans, and advising foresters on timber harvest plans in ecologically sensitive areas. She holds an MSc from the University of Vermont (USA) in the Ecological Planning/Field Naturalist program, where her research focused on long term monitoring of forested reserves. Her background also includes researching international energy policy issues, writing and editing environmental education publications, and farming.
