Brooke Wilkerson is a PhD research fellow at the University of Bergen, Norway. Her research involves understanding the ecosystem services provided to farmers by Uganda’s forest fragments and studying the policy complexities that are leading to the disappearance of these forests. Before beginning her PhD, Brooke was the public lands ecologist for the state of Maine (USA), conducting natural resource inventories and rare plant surveys, developing land management plans, and advising foresters on timber harvest plans in ecologically sensitive areas. She holds an MSc from the University of Vermont (USA) in the Ecological Planning/Field Naturalist program, where her research focused on long term monitoring of forested reserves. Her background also includes researching international energy policy issues, writing and editing environmental education publications, and farming.
